I started smoking pipes in 1984, read Hacker's book for the first time in 1988, and wasted a lot of time and health on cigarettes after that, just smoking pipes from time to time. In January of 2010 I decided to get rid of the cigs. Since then I've been really enjoying my pipes again.
Although I had always loved studying and drinking good wines, tobacco is more fun in a way because for relativly small investments you can explore a lot of wonderful tobacco. Some decent tins cost less than $20 for 50g, while a decent wine is more expensive and does not last as long.
