I love history, paleoanthropology, strong coffee, aged bourbon, unpasteurized local ales, college football, EMS cigars, high nicotine pipe tobaccos, Asian buffets and little kitty cats.

My first pipe was a Kaywoodie drinkless back in 1985. I was 18 and had no mentors. Smoked it every day with no rest time. What did I known. I was happy, wet Captain Black and all. Then the Internet was invented. Learned. Then ebay came and I was ruined. Savinelli pipes, Ser Jacopo, pipe racks coming weekly. Moving on to used pipes and learning to refurb saved my credit. I have come to love old American made Algerian briar made prior to 1970. Bertram, Ehrlich's , Cellini Originals, Wilke, Custom-Bilt, Tracy Mincer, Sydney P. Ram, to name a few. My prize pipe is an early Brian Ruthenberg straight grain volcano with a rusticated bottom and a cumberland stem. My belief is a collection of pipes are for smoking, not just admiring. I have acquired many dudes along the way that sit unused for good reason, though. My real collection number will stay a secret. Even to me.
