I have a serious case of Pipe Acquisition Disorder. I had 150 pipes when I made the conscious decision to stop buying them and start trying to sell some. However, I still haven't sold any. I always find ways to convince myself to keep even the pipes I never smoke from. I have 15 Georg Jensen pipes, since Jensen pipes were what I focused on when I started buying pipes. They were on par with good Stanwell pipes, but less than half the price... so I became kind of an expert in Georg Jensen pipes. Unfortunately, their price has since gone up some... I guess people realized their relative quality. Other than that, I have a fairly eclectic mix of pipes. A couple Dunhill's, some S&R Straight Grains, older Peterson's, and lots of random brands. But my favorite pipes are the old, pre-war French ones, especially with the "percage courbe" bend in the shank. They're hard to find, but I do have a few.
As for tobaccos, the same drive to collect goes for them. One of the great joys of smoking a pipe, for me, is trying out new blends. My cellar is getting to be just as outrageous as my pipe collection.
Most of my ratings are 3 and 4 stars because I tend to review blends that I really enjoy. I'm trying to be a bit more conservative with my ratings though... but so many blends are just so good!
I generally prefer English blends, although I do enjoy all types of tobacco. However, I only rarely smoke aromatics, and almost never smoke heavy aromatics. The few aro's I do like are usually of the "European flavor profile" type... unfortunately though, many of them aren't listed on this site, and it's impossible to add them because there are no moderators to answer emails. I've been trying for nearly 2 years to get blends like Kohlhase & Kopp's Asia 2018, Casino Royal, and Rattray's Summer Edition 2020 approved by moderators. Literally dozens of emails later... still no answer. So, many of the aromatics I've smoked go un-reviewed.
