I’ve been a pipe smoker since the 1960s. Smoked Amphora, Sail, Iwan Ries 3 Star Blue, Troost, Erinmore (Flake & Mixture), Balkan Sobrieni & Mac Barens (Symphony, Harmony, Scottish Mixture, Golden Extra, Burley London), Gwaith Hogarth. While an undergraduate, I visited the Iwan Ries Tobacco/Pipe Shop in Chicago & felt as if I were in a candy store... with a near empty wallet! I would purchase pipes & pipe tobacco whilst on deployment with the Army in various parts of the world, so have accumulated a variety of briars & tobacco internationally. I’ve learned much from tobacconists/pipe smokers around the globe. Several years ago I fell into an estate collection of quality briars from another professor & began a modest English briar collection. I fancy the Samuel Gawith, MacBaren, Eoterica, Gawith Hogarth tobaccos & enjoy sharing our hobby with friends - new & old. Cheers!
