I'm a country boy, grew up in the home counties and the smell of pipe tobacco was never far away.

My hobbies are numerous. I was a keen cyclist and raced at a high level in the UK for a few years. I enjoy all outdoors pursuits - hiking, camping, adventures in general and country crafts.

I mostly smoke briars, but have a meerschaum eagles claw that I've been working quite seriously on, it's getting quite well coloured now.

I occasionally enjoy a real gourd and meerschaum calabash that I bought myself when I completed my first degree, it really is an excellent smoke- always dry and very smooth and cool.

My favourite pipe is a little Peterson "System Standard 317" which has accompanied me on all of my hikes, holidays and adventures, and kept me company by many campfires. It is indestructible, which is why I started using it for such purposes- you can sit on it in your pocket or drop it on a rock, it doesn't care! Also because it always smokes dry, even after several days use and a shortage of pipecleaners. I only smoke English mixtures in that pipe.
