Mild to Medium Mild to Medium Medium Pleasant to Tolerable

This is an entry in the McClelland bulk series that is only carried by a few online vendors, as far as I can tell.

It is very goopy and sticks together in the bag. It requires a lot of drying time to achieve a smoke-able texture and once dried, reminds me of fish food -- little odd shaped very thin flat bits.

In the pipe, it can get very goopy as it burns, when I swabbed my pipe with a bent over cleaner at the end of the smoke, it came out black and tarry, so there's a lot of gunk going on the walls.

Now, all that said, it's got a very strong, distinct, caramel flavor, and is sweet without being overpowering. If you can keep it in the zone, which seems difficult, the flavors are really nice.

I would give it 1.5 stars if that was an option, because goopy pipe tobacco is a bummer. This has enough flavor, though, that I'll give it 2 of 4 as opposed to 1 of 4, if those are my only options.

Recommended for VA junkies that want to try everything, or sweet aromatic smokers that want to try a VA that isn't too far away from the other stuff they've been smoking.

This seems like it was McC's take on 1-Q without the black cavendish and burley. I get a light touch of caramel and some vanilla. I get that now familiar sweet, stoved McC taste. The sample I received wasn't goopy at all and I didn't realize it was an aromatic until I lit my pipe. It's funny that as I sample some of these older and lesser known McC blends, I find some of them are much more enjoyable than some of their overhyped ones.
