Another black cavendish blend that has a toned down mellow vanilla taste, though I get a light honey note, too. This is one of the mildest bc blends I've ever smoked in terms of flavors and sweetness. It's also drier than your usual bc blend, so you need to take your time smoking it or it may burn hot. It get sweeter as you smoke it down, and near the end, I get a light fruit note. Has virtually no nicotine. Has an innocuous after taste. For people looking to smoke a less intense black cavendish. An all day smoke.

After a disastrous first experience with ebony-colored Black Cavendishes, I was a bit hesitant to buy another one (I still have a half pouch of MacBaren 7 Seas Black sitting on my table), but I couldn't help myself. This tobacco from Sutliff was quite affordable (~70% of the price of a typical 50g can of Peterson's or Dunhill tobacco).

Opening the tin - first thing I noticed was a delicious smell of baking cookies. Very tasty tin note, at the same time very "one note" - it's sweet and "pastry" smelling, but that's it, no nuance. Not that that's a bad thing necessarily. The tobacco was damp when the tin was first opened, and it doesn't lose that dampness quickly - 1 month in the tin and it wasn't noticeably dryer.

After packing a bowl and lighting it, I was amazed at just how light and "airy" the smoke was. The smoke does tend to get hot and burn the tongue if you are extremely aggressive, but smoking normally (even at my typical quick pace) it stays cool. There is no nicotine hit to speak of, almost no aftertaste in the mouth, and overall it's very light. Reminiscent of a vape, almost - just a light taste and not much else. Very easy to retrohale, unlike some tobaccos which burn the inside of my nose - retrohaling also lets you taste much more of the sweet "cookie" tin note, so I do recommend doing it a bit just to enjoy the smell.

Due to the slightly damp tobacco, I did end up getting gurgle at the end of the smoke, but even then I never got any bitter taste on my tongue. Unlike the MacBaren 7 Seas Black, this tobacco did not leave any acrid aftertaste in my mouth.

All in all, I'm not sure if this is my cup of tea (I really do prefer smoky English blends so far), but for a very light and airy, sweet smoke, you can't go wrong with this tobacco. Just dry it out before you pack and smoke to avoid the gurgles.

Wow! I could not disagree more with the previous reviewers on this one. I absolutely love this blend!! By far my favorite aromatic. I will admit that it does burn hot, but I have no problems with getting it to light or staying lite and the smell of this stuff is intoxicating. I have never smelled anything quite like it in an aromatic except for Sutliff's Black Swan which is very similar. Tabac Noir has a very unique, earthy sweet smell that is difficult to describe but a joy to inhale. I keep a tin on my desk at work and find myself cracking the lid and sniffing it throughout the day. When smoking this blend I find myself French Inhaling the smoke just to get a better whiff of it. Something I rarely do with any other blend. If you smoke aromatics and are looking for something different, I think it would be a shame for you to pass this one up due to negative reviews. I personally can't get enough of it, so this is obviously just a difference of taste.

This does burn hot. I enjoy it for a quick smoke in my Dublin with a small bowl. I think the room note on this is underated , I like the way you can tell it is there but it is not overpowering. I get very little tounge bite and for as dark as the blend is the flavor is very mild. Not my #1 choice but a decent blend for a quick smoke.

Not exactly what I was expecting. It is a little hard to describe. This is my first experience with straight bc, but maybe it will grow on me. May be a nice smoke if it had a topping on it. I'm a fan of sweet toppings. It does burn hot. Maybe II'll mix it with a little Molto Dolce and see what I get.

A palette of flavors. Unique and meticulously crafted. I find this aromatic unusual and exotic. It seems very dry upon opening, but it burns well and has an excellent room note. The interesting flavor profiles blend in a way that is captivating throughout the bowl. ... Start to finish, a great smoke.

The cut of this tobacco is what I would call an irregular flake and not a ribbon. The tobacco came a little drier than most tinned tobacco, and that works for me. Others seemed to have had problems with it smoking hot, but I did not. There may be a temptation to puff it too fast to get some more flavor out, because it is very mild.

This is a black cavendish blend that I claim has no vanilla in the topping. I don't get any in the flavor profile and that makes it an unusual Black cavendish. There is a subtle sweet that may hint of fruit as the bowl progresses. The smoking experience is not complex or nuanced. It hits a single, simple note fairly well. Don't expect depth or edgy.

If you like black cavendish, you should try this. I recommended Black Swan, and I think I like this one a little more.

The one thing that stands out about this tobacco is how HOT it burns in the bowl, pipe gets very hot! Mild tobacco, mild tongue-bite, not a lot of flavor. I am not particularly impressed.

it seamed to burn kinda hot really no matter what i did. the flavor was very very mild but had kinda had a sweet flavor. was going to mix with some bca to see if that will bring out the flavor of this blend a little better.

This stuff smokes really hot, if you can manage to get it lit. it leaves awful tongue bite and leaves a bad aftertaste. honestly dont waste your time with it.

Another unopened tin from my stash from my pipe smoking days several years back. Didn't ever smoke a fresh tin so I don't know what it was like back in the day, but not much to speak of now. The flavoring was very mild, did not taste much different from a BC with no flavoring added. As others have noted this did smoke hot but maybe it was me puffing away to try and find a flavor of some sort. The description says dark, flavorful and exotic, I'd say they hit one out of three. It is dark. Not much more to say, it's gone and I for one won't miss it.
