The caramel topping is the star, though I think there may be another minor flavoring present. The tobaccos are very much muted by their sweetness. I got a syrupiness from them, too. The black cavendish does have a very slight vanilla note. The Virginia is a little grassy with citrus. Needs dry time, but still burns too moist and a little slow with a fairly consistent flavor. Leaves some moisture in the bowl, and needs some relights. Has little nicotine and won't bite. Sports a slightly bitter after taste. You will notice the tobaccos a little more when dried, but it's still sitting in the back seat. An all day smoke. One and half stars.

I do not smoke aromatics, no cherry, no whiskey, no honey or apricots. But when Tad Gage praised this blend at a Chicago Club meeting, he urged everyone to give it a try despite the name and the smell in the tin. I originally bought 1 tin and tried it. Since then have have bought 10 more tins. I find it to light well and smoke well, despite it appearing to be quite moist in the tin. I think it is a very mild smoke, and I use it to break up my usual latakia blend smoking. I am limiting this blend to only a few pipes, because the caramel smell might just be tough to eliminate from a pipe. So it looks like I will wind up with several pipes dedicated to this blend. I recommend trying it, you might just like it, even if you are a dedicated latakia smoker.

My expectations were low for Caramel Rush. My experience was a pleasant surprise. It allowed heavy puffing with no adverse effects. I obtained this in a package of previously opened tins. It was still moist but definitely did not bite. The flavour was pretty good and I think it would be appreciated in social situations. It is going to be a favourite. Any tobacco I would buy again gets four stars and this is one of them.

Absolutely delicious to the senses. As an aromatic, the smell is that of the maple--of maple bacon, or farm fresh maple syrup glistening on pancakes, hot luscious aromas titillating the palatte--
Sorry, the taste and aroma were almost overwhelming.
As the previous reviewer noted, it is a treat, great for when you have that sweet tooth.
A fine grey ash, little goopy dottle... but then i didn't air it out any, straight out of the can with no time to think--caramel, maple syrup, scrumptuous, try some, its amazing!

Upon opening the tin in my car I was pleasantly assaulted by the aroma of a Caramello candy bar! Very rich and intoxicating, the tin note quickly filled my car and I was slowly drowning in my own drool! Interestingly enough, I have a tin of Christmas Spirit 2015 and the two of them I believe share a topping. While Caramel Rush Is lacking the Rum and Chocolate, I think Holiday Spirit must have some of the Caramel topping since I can detect it in flavor and room note after having just smoked a bowl of both, also my buddies having shared some of the tin agreed. The tin doesn't describe the in ingredients but I detect black Cavendish and some bright Virginia, I do not detect any Burley but there may be a small portion of it. Mild and flavorful, not just steam! I preferred the Chocolate Silk Blend over Caramel and Holiday Spirit but Caramel is a sold 3 stars. Also I really enjoyed these Club Blends and will purchase all of the Chicago , Kansas City and Richmond tins. I have been impressed with them so far!

If you don't like flavored aromatics, pass on this one.
But if you do like them AND you like caramel or butterscotch flavors, then Caramel Rush probably is for you--and the room note for those around you. This is one of those eat-it-right-out-of-the-can blends. I'm not sure what to make of comments about not tasting the tobacco, because it came through just fine for me. Smoke it gently or it can bite. It is moist in the can but not too moist for me; it doesn't clump. The color is dark chocolate mixed with lighter milk chocolate -- this is supposed to be ribbon [?] but mine was more like a rough cut that packed well and burned well.
Reminds me of Three Blind Moose, but a much heavier caramel presence in the tin than TBM (though not in the room note). If you are interested in caramel, these two blends plus McClelland's No. 401 Darkest Caramel should be on the list.

Mostly black wide but short ribbon cut with a heavy tin aroma of buttery caramel and nougat - heavy but not overbearing. Much too moist in the tin but I did smoke one bowl without drying. Review is based on four bowls, which was plenty, as aging or further experimentation with these types of blends is pointless in my experience. They show what they have right off the bat.
Summer is the season for aromatics, and McClellands has made a couple of pretty nice ones. And some not so nice ones. This one falls into the latter category. There was definitely a caramel taste but overall the flavor falls into basic black Cavendish. Soft and sweet and any tobacco taste fully blanketed by the casing. Dried out a bit, this one showed a hair more tobacco but not enough to elevate it beyond mediocre, even as far as aromatics go. Not nearly as antiseptic tasting as their Holiday Spirit and not as gooey in the pipe as I thought it would be, but nothing I'd consider a reference. Making a topnotch aromatic must be the hardest thing in the world, as there seem to be so few on the market (Steven Books' aros are the best I've tried). Not much to say about this one because it seems to be just another black Cavendish blend in a sea of black Cavendish blends. If when someone mentions great U.S blenders, your thoughts go directly to Lane's or Sutliff, this blend will probably ring your chimes loudly. If you think of McClellands, I'd recommend Tastemaster or, better still, their bulk #2050. This one is good for a weak 2 stars.

This blend had lots of potential but only gets three stars from me. The strength was very low, as I expected from this. That natural taste was kind of killed by the extreme casing, and it also had some tongue bite. It just wasn't as smooth as you would expect from such a great blender.
When it comes to casing and room note it was very much caramel. Anyone would say this smells incredible. The tobacco smoking itself was just almost too much.
If you are an avid aromatic smoker, this is definitely for you, if not, I would stay away.

Aromatics are a tough blend to get right, and let me tell you McClelland gets it right with Caramel Rush. I smoked this blend with some friends, all of them agreed it was a delicious aromatic that tasted as good as it smoked with little to no tongue bite (I had none), it also smoked down to the bottom. What is there to say except that this blend smells like caramel and if smoked right tastes just like it?

I bought this along with a tin of Molto Dulce. My opinion of both is identical: this was way too much for me: cloyingly sweet and impossible to smoke. If caramel is your thing, you MAY enjoy this, but I couldn’t finish the tin. Life is too short (and there are too many quality tobaccos out there), for me to smoke this.
Age When Smoked: New from tin.

A light and delightfully airy Caramel blend with a somewhat unique presentation with the added Virginia. I actually would have liked a little more of the caramel flavor, but heck, what I got was good enough to satisfy. This is a wet one and I doubt you'll live long enough to dry it out, so, just load gently and puff.

As far as aromatics go this is a rather nice one. Smooth and sweet. It will bite if your not careful when smoking but other than that its a smooth smoking, and smooth burning smoke. The caramel flavor is the primary note in the smoke with hints of sweet virginia from time to time. I prefer this blend as dessert after dinner. Just as sweet and delicious as that piece of cake but without the calories!

For a McClelland aromatic, this one was very uneventful. I expected much more before I opened the tin. Caramel RUSH? It was more like Caramel Whisper. Any topping that was added to this blend was done way too lightly. The tobacco seems replayed for all McClelland aromatics, inlcuding Nording blends. It isn't a bad blend, but just not my cup o' tea.

Upon opening the tin I found the aroma to be very aromatic and almost overwhelming but was exactly as described in the latest edition of P&T magazine. The write up in P&T was such that I just had to give this aromatic a try. Caramel, maple syrup, and buttered pancakes is what came to mind from my initial whiff from the tin. After trying a few bowls I could almost describe it as Captain Black on steroids. I found the flavorings to be a little on the heavy side. In reality, I think I prefer the over all room note and flavor of Captain Black better than this one. I found it to be a little wet from the container and even after letting it dry for an hour or so before packing I found it took three matches to keep it going and finally a fourth to finish the bowl in my medium size cob. I'm one that has been moving more toward the English blends so my taste for the aromatics is subsiding somewhat. However, I do still like the aromatics now and then. This one would definitely get the thumbs up from the wives for room note and I would recommend this to the aromatic smokers out there.

Not my norm! I'm generally heavy latakia, orientals, @virginia's. But I like this alot it burns well and smells great. It reminds me of Iwan Ries Buttered Rum. Which is a good thing, it's a nice break from the heavy blends I lean to. It burns easy with a nice white ash
Try some you might be in for a treat!

Definitely very heavy on the caramel flavoring, this one had just too much chemically topping for me to abide by, and I simply couldn't get through it, even after weeks of airing it. I dub thee "Chemical Rush." If you find something appealing about this heavy aromatic concoction, I highly recommend giving McClelland's excellent Tastemaster a try, as I feel it to be a far superior alternative aromatic, if not the best in McClelland's aromatic line.
