Such a find.

This is all about the Latakia, and at 50% in there its definitely in the Lat Bomb category.

Very fragrant, there is a naturally occurring sweetness in there, and the accompanying condiments are good and solid.

The lat is special, I don't know where he gets it, its almost like a crossover as there is definitely a casing in there somewhere that gives it a touch of sweet.

More than anything, an absolute bargain and a real find.

This is my favorite English blend from a great B&M pipe shop -- smokey and strong, with rich latakia flavor nicely balanced with sweet virginia. It's comparable to one of my other favorite blends, SG's Commonwealth -- but it is much better, in my opinion; sweeter, smoother and more complex. A must-try for latakia lovers!

If Jon's has a flagship blend, this is it. Although a full English blend containing 50% latakia, Smoking Mixture is palatable enough that it can be smoked everyday. It has a round and creamy flavor that is positively addictive.

The interesting thing about Smoking Mixture is that it's always changing. Jon's adheres to the same formula from batch to batch, but they're constantly acquiring and using different types of leaf. At one point a couple of years ago, Smoking Mixture was made from aged thirty-year-old leaf that once belonged to Milt Sherman!

All in all, an excellent blend from a classic American pipe shop.

Not my favorite fron Jon's, but the kind of thing you could smoke as 'your blend'. Consistently good due to hand mixing in the store, sometimes it can even be excellent depending on what was in stock to use.

Great English blend. It loads easily into the pipe. It lights very well. Burns smoothly to the bottom of the bowl requiring very few relights. Taste is great through the entire smoke. Still available as of October 1, 2020.

This is an excellent English/Balkan mixture. Kind of reminds me of C&D Star of the East but it smokes cooler and perhaps a bit sweeter. Though laden with latakia to my palate this is more complex than Larry's Blend (which I also enjoy). I had bought it in bulk about 4 years ago and placed it in a mason jar and do believe the (red?) virginias sweetened over time. That said it was a great smoke when it was first purchased and I understand why they are so proud of this mixture. The tobacco smells smokey and amazing; I want bury my face in it but I resisted. Smokes dry and I could detected no toppings or additives. Smokey, creamy, lightly sweet and sour (in a good balkan sort of way). The room note is awesome if you like latakia mixtures..maybe not so much if you don't. Highly recommended.
