An unusual crumble cake comprised of our own Rum Cavendish processed red virginia and dark burley tobaccos with a unique exotic Eastern spice top not that hints of sweet citrus and spice.
This is a traditional navy cavendish that has interesting spice flavoring. The tobacco smells pleasant enough but the aroma of the spices truly comes to life once light.
Once lit the aroma and and flavor of cardamon is predominant, there maybe a hint of clove (Though I don't detect any of the citrus). This spice flavor fsdes as others develop. The virginias and burleys come out as you approach th end of the bowl. Overall a sweet smooth smoke
A must try for anyone who is a fsn of Indian deserts. Interesting and complex definitely worth a try, even if not a fan of Indian deserts.
The tobacco being in a plug form but you can easily break off pieces with you hand or cut slices off to rub out.
Received this blend in a sampler from Watch City. I thought the description was very interesting and warranted a try. I am sitting here smoking a bowl of this as I am writing. This is certainly a little different. The aroma in the pouch is dominated by the exotic spices added. This is mostly a darker mixture with a few bits of yellow and lighter browns. Masala is listed as a Krumble Kake. My sample came mostly rubbed out with some chunks in it that rub out very easily with just a squeeze.
Although the spices are fairly strong, you can still taste the Virginias and I think the Burleys also though I think they show up more so in the aroma. I don't really sense the Rum so much. I think the spices overwhelm the Rum for the most part. This is not a weak tobacco and I don't think I would call this an aromatic in the usual sense of what we think of as an aromatic. Sure there are additives such as the rum and spices but there is plenty of real tobacco taste here with no sweetness to my tastes. This is not a Captain Black type of aromatic. No goop or bite here.
Overall I enjoyed this blend but I still haven't decided if I am going to buy any more in the future. I could see this blend being a regular for someone else but I have too many others that I enjoy more.
I gave this 3= but it is probably more of a 2 1/2 = blend but I didn't want to discourage anyone from giving it a go. Some of you may really like Masala a lot. Anyway I give Watch City kudos for trying something different and they pull it off for the most part.
