A legend within itself. Named in honor of Hampton Gray, a Canadian pilot killed in the final days of WWII. A mild smoke of Burley, Latakia, Virginia Flake and Perique accentuated with an intriguing mixture of vanilla, whiskey and honey.

Very Mild Mild Mild to Medium Pleasant

I started smoking this when I first started smoking pipes 4 years ago, my thought at the time was a blend that had burley, virginia, latakia and perique would give me all basic components to trained my palate. It is a very flavorful mixture with all the elements always been noticeable throughout the smoke, all the flavors the blend describe are there, and I'm willing to bet that there's also some coconut flavor in it too, there's never been an incident of ashy taste, like a lot other aromatics seem to have.

Now the bad if not puff gently and slow it will bite, annd it will bite really HARD, be careful with this one, also in levels of nicotine this one almost none.

Mild Mild Mild Pleasant

H.Gray, RCAF came to me by way of a sample. It wasn't long before a full lb was purchased and put away simply because it was that good. It is a mild smoke, with none of the components overwhelming any of the others. In fact, they come together in just the proper combination so that each can be enjoyed, and none dominates. In the pouch the tobacco has a very nice aromatic nose to it, with red ribbons, golden flakes, some larger and darker long flakes and the easy to identify sooty black latakia and a touch of perique. The topping of vanilla, whiskey and honey combine to add the sweetness and room note to the nutty burley, and sweet Virginia tobaccoes, with the velvety smooth smokiness of the latakia and spicy perique. To the match, it is an easy light and stays lit without repetition. Nice billowy plumes of fragrant smoke emit, carrying the pleasant room note aloft. Flavoring is not overdone, as mentioned every component seems in just the right proportion and contribution. Altadis lists this in the English Tobacco category, yet it is not an overwhelming strong English, instead it is more toward being pleasantly between an English with aromatic character. For me, drawing the smoke onto the tip of my tongue made the spice of the perique evident, pulling the exhaled smoke back into my nose revealed the wonderful latakia presence I enjoy. A full mouthful of the delicious draw yields it all together as a creamy, flavorful smoke. Smokes consistently in a variety of pipes, and doesn't leave any strong residual in the bowl for the next blend. Burns down to a nice powdery white-grey ash. This is a blend one could go to often without tiring of it. Recommended.
