Starting with a complementary base of black and red Virginia cavendish, rough cut burley and dark fired Kentucky are then mixed with exotic Middle Eastern Orientals and a touch of perique to create this smooth, fragrant blend.

Notes: Previous Tin Copy: A true blend of both black and red VA cavendish as a base, given strength and presence with rough cut and dark fired Kentucky leaf, combined with exotic Middle Eastern orientals and specially processed with a traditional aromatic agent. The blend comes into being with a final hand-blended note of Perique. An aromatic for those who think they don't like aromatics.

The dark fruity, earthy red Virginia cavendish, like the brown sugar sweet black cavendish form the base of the blend, but they are not major players, though you will notice the red Va. more than the black cavendish. The woody, lightly spicy and smoky, earthy, dry, mildly nutty dark fired Kentucky is just a little more obvious than the cavendishes. The woody, dry, slightly buttery sweet, sour and floral Orientals compete with the Kentucky for attention. The spicy, raisiny, plumy perique does little more than underscore the experience. The mildly applied honey, marshmallow/vanilla toppings smooth out the tobaccos more than they sublimate them, and they also possess an undercurrent of vodka. Won’t bite or get harsh. Burns clean and cool at a reasonable pace with mostly sweet and lightly sour, consistent flavor that translates to the after taste. Leaves little dampness in the bowl, and requires an average number of relights. Can be an all day smoke.

I agree with the previous two reviewers. The description sounds so promising but the taste simply doesn't deliver. In this case, I think there's too many tobaccos and they cancel each other out. I found little to no flavor in this blend, and I think the conceptual overrules the reality here.

On the good side, this is a very dry smoking blend. Whatever the aromatic agent is, it's applied with a very conservative hand. Unfortunately, none of the component tobaccos pick up the slack. It tasted like warm air - no real flavor to speak of. Try this one if you want something very mild and don't want too much flavor.

This has been an interesting smoke. It is very dark in the bag and has the distinctive slightly sour smell of aged Virginia. It is a very tasty, mellow and slightly heavy smoke. You get a little perique in the profile, and the topping is almost a burnt sugar. I noticed the orientals in the last third of the bowl. It works quite well, and I am finding I enjoy it.

This is not a flavor bomb, but it is a nicely balanced blend and I would recommend you try it if it sounds like your cup of coffee. I could see smoking a lot of this.

Great Blend! I am not an aromatic smoker typically, usually smoking Virginias and English Blends, but this aromatic is not really aromatic. I love the straight tobacco flavor of the Kentucky with the addition of the Cavendish for a hint of sweetness. Perfect burning qualities! Tasty tobacco flavor with a hint of something I can't put my finger on. Great!

OMG This is one of the best tasting, best smoking blends I've ever tsmoked. This has got to be one of C&D's best. If you're a fan of aromatics or VA Pers you'll enjoy this tobacco. When I first got the bag it looked to me like a bag of black STUFF. I mean that's the only color I noticed at first glance was the black cavendish. When I opened up the bag I was very happy with the aroma. Sweet and spicey. It's cut very well and it loads up great. The moisture was just right and I didn't let it sit and dry at all. Upon charring light I got a mouthful of happiness. I could taste each individual group and has the perfect amount of perique. When I started sipping away (which I recommend because this stuff will burn hot if you hit it hard) I got a good hit of the cavendish, sweet and nutty with the orientals cushioning it and a little tease of perique. The aroma was sweet and very mellow the way a good tobacco should smell and it's very easy on the tongue and throat. Half way through the Orientals stood out a little more with the Kentucky leaf which is a very nice bonus. I was amazed by all of this so far, I think I've found my standard all day smoke. The strength started to increase a little but not overly strong. I'd say it's got a great nicotine hit to it. Towards the bottom the perique keeps you company and it's a delicious sweet and spicey taste. Kinda made me think of Juicy Fruit gum for some reason, the sweet and sour taste maybe. I took a big hit off my pipe at this stage and my head went reeling. Wow, this stuff's got a sneaky little kick to it. I'm more than pleased by this blend and I was smiling and giggling the whole smoke and I was kind of sad when I finished the bowl because it was so fun and enjoyable to smoke. I'm gonna by a couple of pounds of this stuff. I'm craving it now.

Almost no 'flavour' though the aroma is gentle and predominantly caramel. Disappointed with first few bowls - but a little drying time and a subtle smoothness together with a moderate flavour from topping was apparent. Be careful - don't try and over-smoke this one. Tongue-bite will leap out at you!! Be gentle with it... and it will gently satisfy.

The cut of this tobacco is different range of cuts of red and black tobaccos, it packs easily and lights even easier, at first draw you get a natural sweetness that I'm pretty sure it's the cavendish with a note of coffee, this is what you get for the first third of the pipe, in the second third of the pipe the kentucky and the perique start coming trough, the coffee taste leaves and in it's place you get whispers of perique. the last third it's a combination of red virginia and orientals with whispers of burley, plenty of smoke and plenty of flavor, what's left on the pipe is some thick white ash and a little bit of dottle and a room note that my wife has described as the "smell of a two pack a day stench" to be quite honest this blend is not going to win you any friends in the non smoking committee. This blend reminds me of Peretti's Cuban Mixture in the way that there's a lot of ingredients and a lot of flavor happening at the same time which for me might be a little tiresome for an "all day blend" whatever that is. would I buy it again: yes, would I go out my way to buy it: no.

If your looking for flavor this may not be your cup of tea. I cannot find much good to talk about except that it burns cleanly without effort. I could not taste any of the tobaccos listed, nor any flavoring, it was just way to bland for my palate.

Kentucky, Cavendish, Black Cavendish, Perique, Oriental. One might think that all these tobaccos combined with an aromatic agent would create a flavor bomb, but one would be wrong. The tin note is very pleasant, a musty, chocolaty, almost a vitamin B type of aroma. But non of that seems to come through in the smoke. A little rough, a little prickly, and a little stale. It's not offensive per se, but I don't think I'll finish my 2oz sample.

I agree with sailorjack...the description of this blend seems so promising, but it's just so-so. I don't get this one, either.

Blends like this may discourage pipers from further exploring Cornell & Diehl tobaccos, but don't give up! C & D make some real winners (just not this one).

Sorry, I just don't get this one. I got drawn into this blend by the description.Red Virginias, Orientals, Perique, you figure you can't go wrong here. All the different elements just don't seem to meld into a cohersive blend. The flavors seem to be confused and muddled. It's not a bad blend but there are just so many better ones sitting on my shelf that I will never reach for this one. I will just let this one sit for awhile and hope it improves or I just will use it for blending. Why do I have a such a tough time connecting with any of the C&D blends?

Do you know what you get when you combine Rabbi Ira Stone and the fine folks at Cornell and Diehl? GENIUS!! What a fantastic blend. I recently acquired a 5 tin sampler pack and this was the first one I opened. Having smoked several of C&D's fine blends in the past, I am hooked. This is a great all day smoke that in my opinion tastes a little like dark chocolate as I smoke it. NO tongue bite, smokes cool and leaves NO dottle! I dump the pipe out and hardly anything falls into the ashtray! A very pleasant nicotine content, that is not overpowering, in my opinion. And as for room note, my partner says it is very pleasant and smells "just like a good tobacco should" Highly Recommended!!

One of a few C&D blends in the Hebraica series. I am quite impressed with the blends which have made me a real C&D fan.

In the pouch, it is a very dark blend, I suppose from the black cavendish and the orientals, with a perfect moisture content. No sign of any humectant or any real casing. The aroma is slighty like raisins, but very subdued. In the bowl, this is an extremely satisfying smoke. Smokes rich and creamy. Not quite an aromatic, nor an english blend, but unique maybe tending towards bland, but in a good way. Smokes extremely cool, and has many faces as the bowl proceeds, not sweet, yet not so dry either. Gentle draws seemed to pull out a delicate earthy flavour. It is described as an "aromatic", but I find nothing flavoured about it. Maybe it is just a topping for the aroma that the smoker himself cannot discern? The room note was not offensive, but not for indoors amongst non-smokers either. This is for those who love the leaf.

This blend sounds and smells promising. Perfect moisture level for instant smoking. Unfortunately for me, the taste was rather bland. Every so often I got hints of what I thought it would be throughout, but in the end, I finished the 1/2 pound disappointed.

This came in the C&D virginia sampler pack. I think it was mis-described as an aromatic type. This is a perique mix and will not appeal to aromatic purists. It permanently colored my Butz Choq 3 star pipe with it's flavor. Not happy about that. I tried cleaning the pipe with vodka to remove it and the flavor is still there. Got up into my sinuses and could still smell it 2 days later. Flavor was of pine pencil shavings. Given the orientals and perique, this not an aromatic in my book. I'm not really sure how to classify this one. Without latakia it's not english or baltic, without virginias its not a vaper. With the orientals and perique its not an aromatic. I'm just confused with this one.

Halav U'Dvash is not one of those tobaccos that I would just pick up randomly. However, this tin came in a sample pack from smokingpipes.com and I have to say that I really enjoyed it, I didn't think I would because I'm generally not an aromatic fan by any means. This, however, is not your typical aromatic, I hesitate to even refer to it as such because though it has a nice room note and tastes really good, you definitely get the true tobacco tastes as well. The orientals and perique are just wonderful in this blend.

I've got to go along with Grampa on this one. I was very disappointed with Halav U'Dvash, especially after haveing a most positive experience with Boker Or, another blend in this series. This one bears no resemblance to Haddo's Delight. If you are looking for an alternate to Haddo's, don't go near this one.

I tried this blend in a group 5 Wilke billiard. The moisture level of the blend seemd to be what it should be. Although it lit easily enough, it required some efort to generate an adequate amount of smoke. As previous reviews suggested, it does burn very dry and clean. As far as burning characteristics, it would be hard to beat the performance of this blend.

The flavor is pleasant enough but somewhat flat and bland. A decent all day smoke because fo these qualities and lack of bite. However, for those concerned with flavor, you may want to seek it elsewhere because you won't find it here.

I have had about 5-6 ounces of this over the past 6 months. I am so intrigued by this blend. I really love it. There is no one paticular tobacco that stands out, but, you get a full flavor of of exotic, quality tobacco with a hint of frankinscence(?) or allspice - not sure but I really do recommend it

No bite, no gurgle, no downfalls at all and it contains no preservatives or additives. A real good, honest, unique, smoke that will allow you to transcend the moment.
