Extremely difficult to find as it is no longer produced, Dixie Pride is the epitome of a Navy blend. Outstanding well aged Virginia leaf is doused in a very flavorful rum that does not cause the tobacco to burn hot. A cool, satisfying and strong smoke that is as unique as any blend out there. I loved it!
Upon opening the tin the first niticeable thing is the long fine ribbon cut, very unusual for Samuel Gawith; it looks like Clan. The blend is at the perfect humidity to smoke. Packing is easy and so lighting; the burning, as expected, is fast but the blend is absolutely biteless. They tell "soaked in rum" but the flavouring isn't that strong, you can definitely taste the fine Virginia. You should just pay attention in puffing slowly, because the tobacco can become easily wet. The aftertaste is light and sweet, very pleasant. All in all a very nice blend.
