With this blend you not only have to like Latakia - you have to positively 'crave' the taste, as this blend contains 50%, while the remain 50% are heavily steamed Virginia!! We are sure, that this blend will fulfill the desire of the most pretentious smokers.
A very in-your-face experience: lots of Latakia, a very dark blend.
Sadly this means that it's not a very subtle or complex blend. The low percentage of other components makes it a bit lacking in body and "meat"... there's almost just the "smoke"!
It will surely appeal to latakia junkies, but its taste can soon become a bit flat.
I prefer Deacon's Downfall for an equally powerful but tastier and richer big latakia esperience!
A superb Latakia and Virginia mixture. A classic fifty-fifty blend, but despite the almost trivial recipe, it is one of the best English mixtures I have ever smoked. Getting such a remarkable result - a perfect balance of sweetness and spicy smokiness - without any Oriental addition is not so easy. 5/5 in my personal rating system.
This tobacco may be considered as the Swiss' answer to the S.Gawith Commonwealth: same components, same percentages. If you like latakia this is a good tobacco, but obviously it lacks in deepness and complexity, not having the oriental boost. The leaves are of good quality, but they miss the match with the Gawith counterpart by far.
Well, i tried this Tobacco, and i must say i really love it.
For sure 1st quality Tobacco here, Latakia is really enjoying your smoke, (you must love it if you want to try this one..) and Virginia gives deepness and helps to give you a perfect sense of full taste, every time i enjoy a bowl of this i feel really satisfied and accomplished.
Great Four Star Tobacco, and too bad i can't give it a Five :)
A bulk offering of Syjeco. When I dig my nostrils into the bag, I first pick up a prominent scent of Black Cavendish and a whiff of English behind it. On their website it says that it contains 50 % steamed Virginias and 50 % Latakia. On a scale of 10 they rate it 7 in strength.
The properties of stuffing, lighting and burning, are a kind of a hassle, they could all be better. There is definitely a well noticeable amount of Black Cavendish in this mixture. It’s there to tame down the sharp Virginias, I guess. The Latakia is faint and pushed into the background. It is light-years far away from being a Latakia bomb. To my taste there is a pinch of Orientals in this blend. The Virginias are somewhat ok at best, rather harsh and sharp and they do not donate much of the typical, subtle Virginia flavours.
I will finish my 50 gram bag, but I will not buy it again. I would like all tobaccos in this blend to deploy much more taste and flavour, especially the Latakia. These tobaccos do not linger at all. Pleasant room note though.
