This is one of those blends with a very appropriate name. The term 'mixture' is applicable as there is a broad spectrum of different cuts and varieties of tobacco in the pouch, some ribbons, some shag and a few small pieces of flake. I can see the moisture is good so my pipe can be filled and smoked without allowing drying time.
Imminently the word 'mellow' seems more than apt. It lacks a lot of the sweetness that blends with Black Cavendish usually have, I would say that the Black Cav' is the last in line when it comes to flavour as there is only a slight sweetness to it. The Virginia and the Burley work brilliantly in this mix, both being the same weight so I get a good and even amount of nuttiness to grassiness. I tend to have to take things easy with this otherwise it can give me a bit of grief with tongue bite, gentle sips are paramount to enjoy this. I find the burn very good, from the moment it's lit it only really needs maintaining with the odd tamp.
Nicotine: mild. Room-note: pleasant.
This is an enjoyable smoke, mellow and relaxing but after a while it just becomes a little mundane. For this reason the score is two stars.
