I tried this at a time when I was "sampling" over 25 tobacco tins at one time and this is the only one that stood out because I wanted to literally puke after smoking half of a bowl. The sweetness in this mix is way over the top! The berry fruitiness is just too much. I would not recommend this blend at all.
I ordered some of Petersen & Sorensen blends thinking they would be similar to Larsen blends. They are not. IMO, Larsen has better processing techniques, use superior quality leaf, and the tobaccos are not as aromatic nor moist. Of the lot I ordered---Premium, Black Mixture and Danish---the latter is the one I liked the most and the one I found easier to smoke.
It is true to its description: a typical Danish blend, comprising bright Virginias, toasted Burley and mild Black Cavendish. The tobacco is very moist, but not as gooey as the other two. Again, airing for some days is recommended. It has a fresh aroma and its cut is thinner and easier to handle. Flavour wise this is a mild, slightly sweet, light aromatic mixture, very similar in taste to Larsen?s Selected Blend N° 50. P&S Danish, however, has perhaps a little bit more of body and structure, but it is also damper.
A nice, quality smoke, with no tongue bite. It has a good flavour (though don?t expect much tobacco taste from this one) and it doesn?t spoil the pipe. A good beginners tobacco, or else a nice change of pace for the established smoker with the occasional sweet tooth.
