Mild Extremely Mild Mild Pleasant

A very mild bright Virginia flake. There's not much strength or nicotine to it by design. The flavor is rather one dimensional, having a little citrus sweetness, grass, hay, and slight earth notes. Has a mild nic-hit. Won't bite, but fast puffing can make it a little warm to your tongue. An effortless smoke that burns cool and dry with a consistent taste at a reasonable rate. Needs a few relights, and leaves a little dampness in the bowl. If you want a mild all day smoke that doesn't dull your tongue, and doesn't cost much, this will do nicely for you. It also makes a very good mixing tobacco for home blending if you're so inclined. Has a decent after taste. Currently made by Sutliff.

This blend is often sold under a "house" name by tobacconists. While the description says that this is "matured" tobacco, it isn't the most flavorful stuff you have ever tried right from the start. You can tell that this is mostly bright Virginias, and it has a nice sweetness and hay-like smell to it. But, it smokes hot, and is not especially exciting when new.

I aged some of this for about two years in a mason jar in my basement. It improved markedly. I would compare this to Peter Stokkebye's Luxury Twist Flake, but without the vanilla topping. The sweetness blossoms, the sharp edge and bite mellow significantly, and variation in flavors become evident. I have tried this with the addition of Perique, which richens the flavor, but I prefer this as a straightforward, unaltered bright Virginia.
