As a novice pipe smoker this was reccomended to me by the staff in the store.
Not a bad tobacco, now that i have tried some different blends. As has been stated the pouch note is chocolatey, but i also get a lot of sweet rum cake, might just be me but it has more to it. On the charring light i get a lot of the virginas, but once lit the cavendish and burleys come out a little more. Quite wet, i seem to have a hard time not getting any gurgle towards the end of the bowl, and it does leave things quite sloppy. Once dried out for about an hour though it does smoke a lot cooler, however the wetness seems to come back once 1/2 through a bowl (i will add here that this is not due to smoking it quickly, since i don't seem to have this problem with other similar blends).
Overall i do like this, but its not going to be my "go to" blend.
I would suggest that you try this blend if you are looking for an easy tasting "light" smoke.
An excellent, mild aromatic blend for the beginner or the experienced smoker which prefers the mild aromatic blends.
This tobacco is offered in bulk form only, and is the biggest seller of the house blends from Blatter. VA, Black Cavendish and - I am not positive- some Burley, in a long cut, form the composition of this blend, topped by a delicious hot chocolate casing that is just right, because the bakkie doesn't smoke wet, it goes down all the way dry, yes sir!
I remember all the compliments I had when I was smoking this one, the aroma is nicer than Captain Black Royal and the quality, well....can't compare apples with oranges, right?
Unfortunately, this blend is way too mild for me, but it remains a good quality tobacco, for a bulk one.
Executive is a re-branded and tweaked Lane's 1Q. If you've smoked 1Q, you've more or less smoked Executive.
Quality tobacco but like many bulk blends, its too moist to smoke. Let it air for an hour or so before loading. The pouch aroma is undoubtedly chocolate. The room note is subtle hot chocolate aroma. I found no taste, but also no bite. Some gurgle in the bowl. My pipe was somewhat goopy after the smoke. Burns evenly and completely. If you're a lover of super mild aromatics, this is right up your alley.
I, on the other hand, was disappointed. I was looking for something to a clone of Captain Black white pouch. One of the Blatter bros. steered me to Executive, but Executive has absolutely none of the creamy, voluptious vanilla flavor and aroma of Captain Black.
I suspect Blatter's Arome de la Nuit would be more aligned with Captain Black....I will have to put some of this on my next order and post a review.
So,,,,If you're looking for Captain Black clone, Executive is absolutely not it.
But if you're looking for a very mild all-day smoke with a mild hint of chocolate, then this will fill the bill.
I'll smoke Executive if it's all I have left to smoke, but it won't be my first choice if I have one. It's not a bad smoke, just boring on its own.
My wife and I tried a mix of 200g Executive, 50g Blatter's Coffee and 50g of Captain Black white pouch. Now this custom blend has a lot more going for it!
