I?ve never tried a chocolate flavored tobacco before so I was curious what this would be like. I like it. The chocolate is present but doesn?t engulf the tobacco taste. The pouch aroma is nice and it leaves a very pleasant aroma upon smoking. Maybe it was just my pouch, but I?ve had this for a little over a year and it is still the moistest tobacco I have ever smoked. It left my fingers sticky and reeking of chocolate tobacco smell. It was hard to light but once I got it going it stayed lit and smoked long and cool (and I?m a puffer too). It did goop my pipe but that was remedied with a pipe cleaner, so no harm done. Overall, I enjoyed this blend and would consider it again for a change of pace.
Clan Shaw Dutch is a better-than-average black aromatic that won't goop up your pipe or bite too much. It is hard to get excited about this blend, or to really remember much about it once you've smoked it. Others will like the smell, though, and at $20.00 the pound, it's a bargain. This is a big step up for the smoker of drugstore tobaccos and a vaguely elegant alternative for the aromatic smoker. Not bad as a summer smoke.
