A characteristic English mixture. A mixture developed from mellow Georgian Virginias, black cavendish, Mexican burleys and Cyprus Latakia – a classic. Loose cut tobacco. Non-aromatic flavor, with a range from gentle to medium strength.
The Oriental/Turkish provide a fair amount of earth, wood, herbs, vegetation, mild dry sourness, spice and floralness. They take a substantial lead. The very smoky, earthy, woody Cyprian Latakia is musty with some incense as a supporting player. The Mexican burleys offer a moderate amount of earth, wood, nuts, and mild sweetness. They sit in the third position. The sugary black cavendish tames some of the rough edges in a background role. The aspects of the Virginias are mild tart and tangy citrus, grass, earth, wood, with light tangy darker fruit, sugar and floral vegetation. They are the base of the blend. There’s a very light sweet topping that adds an accent to the proceedings. The strength and taste levels are a couple of steps past the center of mild to medium. The nic-hit is a notch behind them. Won’t bite or get harsh, and has few rough edges. Well balanced with a little complexity, it burns cool and clean at a reasonable rate with a very consistent mildly sweet, spicy, and more savory flavor that extends to a very pleasantly lingering after taste. The room note is a little stronger. Leaves little dampness in the bowl, and requires an average number of relights. An all day smoke.
