Mona Lisa Overdrive is an Artisan Virginia trio. It contains matured red Virginia with average crop years of over a decade, the same Virginia used in Van Gogh, and Navy prepared stoved dark Virginia. It is packed wet for the user to dry to preference but is presented without a need for customer correction/aging. Nothing in this blend is young.

The fermented Navy stoved dark Virginia offers a fair amount of tangy stewed dark fruit, earth, wood, bread, sugar, vegetation, mild tart and tangy citrus, grass, floralness, and a couple pinches of spice. It is moderately infused with rum, and that aspect helps elevate it to being the lead component by a small margin. The fermented matured red Virginia has all of qualities of the stoved dark Virginia with a few of differences. There’s more tangy ripe dark fruit, no stewed quality, just a little more tart and tangy citrus, and no topping. It’s effect is about a notch or two below that of the Van Gogh Virginia. The VGV is comprised of various mixed cut fermented Virginias. It produces a lot of zesty tart and tangy citrus, grass, vegetation, sour lemon, mild tangy darker fruit, earth, wood, sugar, floralness, a couple pinches of spice, and light smokiness. It is a competitive supporting player. The strength, nic-hit and taste levels are a couple of steps past the medium mark. There’s no chance of bite or harshness. Has few small rough edges. Burns cool and clean at a reasonable pace with a very consistent fruity sweet, mildly rugged, punchy flavor that extends to the lightly lingering, pleasant after taste. The room note is a tad stronger. Leaves little dampness in the bowl, and requires an average number of relights. Can be an all day smoke for the veteran, and easily repeatable for the less experienced. Four stars.
