The red Virginia provides some tangy dark fruit, earth, wood, bread, sugar, floralness, very light tangy citrus and grass as the lead component. The perique offers plenty of earth, wood, some spice and stewed plums, figs and raisins as a supporting player. The spiced rum topping moderately tones down the tobacco. The strength and nic-hit are a couple of steps past the center of mild to medium. The taste is a tad more potent, but doesn’t reach the medium threshold. There’s no chance of bite or harshness, and barely has any rough notes. It’s a little moist, but I saw no need to dry it. Deeply rich, it burns cool, clean and slightly slow with a very consistent sweet and mildly spicy, floral favor. Leaves little moisture in the bowl. Requires some relights. Has a lightly lingering, pleasant after taste and room note. Can be an all day smoke.
