Blue Ridge Special is a decidedly Scottish mixture based on ripe red Virginia leaf. Spiced gently with Latakia we have tempered with a unique process that takes the pungent edge off and adds a depth to its aromatic qualities. This blend shows off both the tangy sweetness of the red Virginias and the sweet smokey incense like flavor and aroma Of Cyprian Latakia.

The ripe red Virginias provide a burst of tangy, lightly tart dark fruit, some tart and tangy citrus, grass, earth, wood, bread, vegetation, sugar, light floralness, spice, a touch of acidity, and a bare hint of vinegar. They are the lead components. The very smoky, woody, earthy, musty, incense-like, mildly sweet Cyprian Latakia is a strong supporting player. The unique processing of the Latakia results in a light spicy, herbal, floral Oriental-like presence that well compliments the previously noted aspects of that varietal. The strength and nic-hit are a step short of the medium mark. The taste level is medium. There’s no chance of bite or harshness, and has few rough edges. Burns cool and clean at a moderate pace with a mostly consistent tangy sweet and tartly savory, floral, campfire flavor that translates to lightly lingering, pleasant after taste. The room note is a slot stronger. Leaves little dampness in the bowl, and requires an average number of relights. Despite its rich punchiness, it can be an all day smoke.

Package note of tangy sweet and smoky sauce. Tobacco is a ribbon cut of reddish brown, dark brown and a little black. Moisture content is great. Burns moderate with a few relights. The strength is mild to medium and nic is mild. No flavoring detected. Taste is mild to medium and moderately consistent, with notes of tangy dark fruit, mild sweet incense, spices, sugar, wood, fermented vegetation, savory, mildly sour, sweet bread, earth, hay, tart and tangy citrus, acidic, floral, a deeply sweet grassy background note, and a peppery retro. Virginias are leading with latakia supporting. Room note is pleasant to tolerable, and aftertaste is great.
