A mix of Virginia tobaccos, fragrant burley, and black cavendish combine in Chacom's #2 blend. A subtle, yet flavorful topping of sweet vanilla and yellow plum is then added, creating a pleasant smoke and aroma.
I can immediately smell a deliciously sweet and fruity plum tin note here. There are other reviews I've seen that claim to only barely detect the plum... but I can definitely smell it when I open this tin. And it's a natural sweetness and fruitiness, as opposed to the artificial sweetness/flavors that some aromatics have. It really smells great, much like Solani's Festival, but more "natural" and, frankly, better.
When first lit, that fruity plum flavor is there as well, along with the Burley and Virginia. It's not overly topped like some aromatics. There's a natural vanilla bean flavor as well, and some light Virginia grassy and dark fruity notes. Also, I don't know exactly what it is, but there is a sweet "spice rack" sort of taste. It's sort of cinnamon-y and spice-like... and I think it may be the result of the vanilla bean flavor mixing with the nutty, woody Burley. It's very pleasant and natural. There's a lot going on. The topping flavors mix with the tobacco's natural flavors really well. And through it all, that nice dried fruit/plum taste is still there. It's only slightly moist right out of the tin, doesn't need too much drying. It's on the short list of my favorite aromatics now. And though I usually don't smoke many aromatics... this blend may change that. I'm going to be buying more of this stuff.
Bottom Line: This is a lightly-topped aromatic. Really more of a nicely sweet, fruity Burley-based blend. Recommended.
Some blends take plenty of smoking to form an opinion. Like, example, Haunted Bookshop Cake. I smoked near a full tin before posting a review. Others only require a few bowls. For me many aromatics fall into this category. Chacom #2 is one of them. I only started smoking this today, but it's a fairly simple smoke.
The tin-note is lead by plum. This tin's from July 2020, and the paper insert has become a little stained from the blend. The appearance suggests mainly Virginia and Burley, with just a jot of black Cavendish.
The smoke marries up well to the suggestion from looking/smelling it. The plum comes across perfectly. This is the first flavour I get and it's formidable throughout. There's a light touch of vanilla, this is creamy, but it's nowhere near as strong as the plum. Now the tobaccos. The Virginias taste sweet and take the pole-position. They also give a bready note, Some websites describe this as having only a ''small'' proportion of Burley, but I find more flavour than I'd expect from just a little. There's a very rugged, rustic, slightly dry and caustic note that could only come from an ample amount of Burley. The black Cavendish offers hardly anything. Because of there not being much, also added vanilla, it's quite lost. The low points now, it burns a bit fast and the smoke is above medium in temperature.
