This is NOT a true pipe tobacco blend. It really is more of a RYO cigarette tobacco. The cut is a pretty fine ribbon more suitable for cigarettes. This Gold blend looks like a "bright" Virginia with some (white?) burley added. In my briar pipe this tobacco lit very easily and burned quickly (the tobacco is rather dry for a pipe tobacco, but not un- smokeably so). The taste is fine, but a tad bland. Smokes cool with no bite. There is no topping that I could de- tect. Just natural tobacco. This is okay in a pipe, in a pinch, and is probably better as a cigarette. Price was $20 for 16 ounces. Hard to argue with that. But, if you're looking for, or ex- pecting, a tobacco even like Half and Half, Carter Hall, or Prince Albert, forget it. I think this stuff would work well as a blending tobacco. I intend on trying that out, maybe with a bit of Latakia or Lane Ltd. "RPL-6". Worth a try.
