Casanova is a mixture of flavored black cavendish, burley and Virginia sure to catch the ladies' attention. That is, in a manner far more conducive towards domestic tranquility than those latakia blends.
The pouch has quite a potent aromatic smell and there's a slightly higher proportion of black to brown ribbons, the black ones are coarser. It's a little too moist, but not soaking.
The smoke isn't the usual heavy vanilla black Cavendish affair. As well as the alcohol there seems to be another sharp addition, citrus fruits maybe? Although this doesn't taste bad in the smoke the same can't be said for the aftertaste. The greater quantity of black Cavendish gives a gentle vanilla flavour. The Virginia and Burley are of an equal weight, both tasting like they're the sweeter variants of their family: some fruit and molasses, as opposed to just grass and nuts, alone. B37 gives an extremely cool smoke, and a good burn.
Nicotine: mild. Room-note: pleasant.
B37 Casanova? The description says this 'will catch the ladies attention', but I'm a married man who has no want or need to catch the attention of ladies! So that said, I'll go with my gut feeling, two stars:
Casanova has minimal stems in my 2oz pouch, but the irregular and asymmetric strips of leaf make this difficult to pack. Some short and wide, some extremely long and narrow, some long and wide. It also seems to have an effect on how well these tobaccos blended together.
Pouch note is vanilla, nougat, alcohol, and the traditional black cavendish aroma. Tobacco comes on the moist side, but it's not sticky. It will take several initial lights to get going if its fresh. Packing will be easier once the long ribbons are broken up, but pack loosely due to the moisture.
This does have a terrific room note. The Cavendish flavor/aroma stands out the most. The first few minutes of the bowl seems cloyingly sweet, but it does dissipate as the bowl goes progresses. Burns cool, with a little moisture. No chance of biting.
I cannot stress enough to go through this blend and break up chunks. The burn will suffer if you don't. All in all, this is an OK aromatic. I will have to say 2.5 stars
