Virginia and black cavendish mixed to the same amount are pressed into a flake and are ready rubbed after aging. A nice floral-fruity aroma perfectly combine with the tobacco taste.
Right after you open the tin you will realize what is going on here. The tobacco Is flavored with the aroma of red grapes and that is what you are going to smell right after you open the tin. The tobacco is presented as a broken Flake which is cut in quite long stripes that consist of 50/50 Black Cavendish and Virgina. The color ranges from dark brown to black. I would recommend smoking this tobacco from a pipe with a medium to bigger bowl. It could be that you need to cut the flake pieces up a little bit so that they will fit into your pipe for some of them are cut quite long. This tobacco needs some time to light it up but after that you will have no problems in keeping it running, if you know how to smoke a ready rubbed of course. In the first 2/3 you have a clear flavor of red grapes that at no point feels artificial, just like we are used to by most flavored tobaccos from Dan Tobacco. In the last third the red grape flavor is toning down a little so that the used Virgina gets some room to present it’s earth he somehow hayish but not too sweet flavor which interacts quite nicely with the added Red grape flavor.
I can recommend this tobacco if you are interested in trying something outside of the mainstream aromatics that most manufacturers are offering. It is a little bit sweet but not too much.
