Peterson 2017 Christmas Blend is blended using a carefully balanced mixture of ready rubbed Virginia and burley leaves with an addition of broken flake for a smooth and cool smoke. The blend is top dressed with flavors of wild berries, vanilla and a touch of amaretto. Something tells us that this will be the most popular Christmas blend to date.

Peterson - Christmas Blend 2017 (Limited Edition).

The first point I'll mention affects the smoking qualities in no way whatsoever, but pleases me nevertheless. The packaging. The U.K. market missed something here! Because they now INSIST on the tin being concealed inside a cardboard box that's plastered with health warnings, which I bin before even taking note of, the tin itself is the first I've had in a long while that's free from any sanctimonious warnings: it's just a Peterson branded tin, for the U.K.!

Right, packaging aside, as novel as it is! I opened the tin to be met by what appeared to be a straight up, medium brown and yellow blend of ribbons. It was only when I delved into it that the broken flakes came to light. The aroma from the tin's lead by the fruit/citrus, having a notable lemon zestiness. The lid's just a push-clip one that conceals a cellophane bag of tobacco so any airlock hasn't sealed in lots of moisture. It looked ready to smoke imminently.

Like last years Peterson Christmas blend it's not a smoke that's just awash with gloop, and heavy with vanilla stickiness. The almond flavour from the amaretto works harmoniously with the naturally nutty Burley and the added fruitiness goes hand-in-hand with the fruity Virginia. The vanilla acts as more of a smoothing agent at first, it's a light addition until the final quarter: from here on the smoke takes on more of the archetypal Christmas Aromatic style. I also note the presence of an unlisted ingredient: the smoke seems to have a slight top-note of cinnamon. C.B.2017 burns at a medium pace, giving quite a cool smoke, without tongue bite.

Nicotine: mild to medium. Room-note; pleasant.

I like Christmas Blend 2017, but will rate it with three stars instead of four as subjectively speaking I've enjoyed some of the Peterson Christmas blends from the past a little bit more:

I always look forward to the Peterson Xmas blend and this year it did not disappoint me. I liked the tin art and am grateful for the health warnings being on the outside packaging not on the tin. The smell was full powered berry with some alcohol notes. The first few puffs were a little chemical but they soon disappeared. I did not locate any cinnamon, almanac or vanilla while smoking, but did get red currant and subtle berry flavour. It was a very pleasant smoke. Burnt quick, no tongue bite and burnt to ash. Anouther great seasonal blend by Peterson.

Tin scent gives off some vanilla, cherries and mixed christmas spices, interesting!

In smoking it tastes spicy, with undercurrents of amaretto and vanilla all intertwined with the burley. But mostly spicy! So your liking of this will depend on how much you enjoy the cristmas spices and burley, because they will most likely be the top players.

It gives off an amazing room note though, so everyone wants to be your friend!

Somewhat recommended!
