Whether known as Gluhwein, Glog or any of other numerous names, mulled wine is a vastly popular winter time drink throughout Europe. When applied to a base of burley, Virginia, and black cavendish, Sutliff's Mulled Wine is equally appealing as a comforting smoke for chilly, winter nights.

Sutliff Tobacco Company - Mulled Wine.

Where ingredient are concerned this has a lot more Virginia/Burley than black Cavendish, it's a mid-size ribbon with a few coarse pieces, and has a fairly potent aroma of mulled wine. Moisture's good.

The smoke is a full aromatic one: cloves, cinnamon, honey, and alcohol. Quite enjoyable for the first quarter, but the spices and anise become too sharp over a bowl, for me. Again, like the look of the blend implied, it's more of a VaBur smoke, with a touch of Cavendish. The burn's good, but it bites.

Nicotine: mild to medium. Room-note: I don't like.

Mulled Wine? Two stars:

Somewhat recommended.

Will not be purchasing this again. Sure, I can get some wine and brandy notes with some dashes of spices but it bit the tounge far too much.

Be aware, this is also by no means a Cavendish blend, there is some black CAV in the blend but not enough for an aromatic smoker like myself. This is more like a flavoured VABur with CAV as a condiment.

With the flavoring I did get this blend could've been so much more if they committed to making it a CAV aromatic. When I could get past the burn the wine, brandy and spices were great, but that's the thing, it's hot and biting.

Didn't also really care for the room note.
