Mild to Medium Extremely Mild Mild to Medium Pleasant

The tangy, dark fruity, earthy, woody red Virginia takes a small lead over the competing citrusy, mildly grassy bright Virginia, both of which form the base of the blend. The nutty, earthy, molasses sweet burley is almost a supporting player. The spicy, woody, lightly nutty, floral, dry dark fired Kentucky is an important condiment. The floral, woody, smoky, herbal, buttery sweet and lightly sour Orientals underscore each puff slightly more than does the smoky, woody, earthy, sweet Cyprian Latakia. However, there are times the Latakia does rise up and become a tad more obvious. The unsweetened black cavendish provides a little sugar in the background. The lightly applied maple topping works well with the tobaccos as a sweet smoothing agent, but doesn’t sublimate the varietals much at all. The nic-hit is just past the mild threshold. The strength level is just below the mild to medium, while the taste aspect sits squarely on that mark. No chance of bite or harshness is present. Burns cool and clean at a reasonable pace with a mildly complex, slightly inconsistent flavor. Leaves little dampness in the bowl, and requires an average number of relights. Has a pleasant after taste and room note. An all day smoke.

Having recently smoked this blend under the “Old Hollywood” name, I can tell this is sweeter with less Latakia, and is overall a better production. Three and a half stars.

This blend has it all. Does not require any drying time, and only a few relights. The maple flavoring is only lightly detected in the tin note. While sipping the tobacco, you can detect all the flavors, but one does not overshadow the other. A perfect balance.
