The deeply citrus sweet, mildly grassy bright Virginia takes a light lead over the earthy, tangy dark fruity, lightly sugary red Virginia. The raisin and plum from the perique is a little more noticeable than the spice, and is a condiment at best. The lightly floral, dry, woody Oriental lightly underscores the blend, though at times it waxes and wanes a mite. The smoky, woody sweet Cyprian latakia provides a flavor push to the blend in the background. The black cavendish chips in with a light burst of sugar. The nic-hit is in the center of mild to medium, and sneaks up on you a little after the half way point. The strength and taste levels are a step closer to medium than they are to mild. No chance of bite or harshness. Burns cool and clean at a moderate pace with a rather sweet, lightly inconsistent flavor. Leaves little moisture in the bowl, and requires an average number of relights. Has a very pleasant after taste. Can be an all day smoke. Three and a half stars out of four.

Let me say this is the finest ribbon cut I've seen from C&D in a long while. The cut allows it to be packed easily and burns completely. Upon first light you get the sweetness from the Cavendish and the Virginias with a strong Perique spice when exhaling through the nose tasting a lot like a VaPer. Soon the sweetness disappears and the Latakia shows up with the Orientals coming and going by adding a slight pleasant sourness. Slowly the Perique blends in and disappears, remaining a background player. Eventually the Orientals start to take the lead and becomes the dominant tobacco with a nice woodiness till the end of the bowl. I'd put this as mild in the nicotine department with medium taste and a light/medium English blend.
