The red Virginia is mildly tangy, dark fruit sweet with some earth, wood, bread and a hint of spice. Playing a very important support role is the dry, herbal, vegetative, smoky, woody, slightly buttery sweet and mostly sour floral Orientals, which often competes with the red Va. The sweetness of the red Virginia is toned down by the Oriental. The raisins, figs, plums and spice from the perique mostly plays back up. The nic-hit is a couple of steps short of the medium mark. The strength and taste are medium, particularly due to the potency of the Oriental. It won’t bite or get harsh, though it will get slightly warm on the tongue if you puff beyond a moderate rate. Burns reasonably well and clean with a mostly consistent, mildly complex sweet and floral, savory flavor. Requires few relights, and leaves virtually no moisture in the bowl. The woody, lightly sweet after taste and room note linger a bit. It’s not an all day smoke even though it is a medium bodied blend.

Writing this from mobile, as I'm finishing my last bole. It's an honest tobacco which comes very moist from the tin with uneven bits of rubbed and almost slices flake pieces. I dry mine out at least 20 min before smoking in a well heated spot, it's a must. Taste profile. Honest tobacco leaf, a bit of wet wood from a forest, a bit of dust, sour dry fruit, some tiny bit of pepper from perique. Depending on the pipe it needs much relighting or none at all. Burns to fine ash, no goop. Tase consistent with more ash dust flavour towards the end. It doesn't have a gem sort of touch to it, but it's well balanced and is quite suitable for an all day smoke. My tin had some 7-10 years on it, by the way. Better in deep narrow bowl. Tiny bite only if really pushed and smoked above normal heat lvl. A solid middle of the road choice when you don't want to think on it much without sacrifice on quality however. Give it a go. Strength around medium, maybe a notch below.

A ready rubbed blend, the tin note featuring Perique and VA foremost, with a little additional spice. As such, a typical VA/Per, nice aroma, typical plum-ish note. The flavour is as expected: sweet and gently spicy, some fruity bits in there from the Perique.

Stuffs and lights easily enough, easy to handle, burns down to nothing but ashes. At the end of the bowl, though, I feel somewhat let down. Given the components, this blend could really shine. It somehow fails to do so, so I will stick with the alternatives that do.
