Made by spinning tobacco dark fired leaves into a rope. This is more widely used as a chewing tobacco, although can still be smoked if preferred. The pouch aroma is both oily and spicy due to the diameter of the twist, usually cut into so many little discs in order to chew or smoke. Once you cut them, you see a very deep reddish brown colour, especially under direct light. It is truly a strong tobacco. The taste settles down gradually and becomes increasingly sweet, spicy, and creamy. Flavored with Blackcurrant.

Like the Sweet Plum Twist, the downsides to this are 1) it's difficult to get in the US, and 2) it (and similar twists and pigtails) come in tiny amounts (10-18g). These are designed more for chewers than smokers, and that may be why they are sweeter than the sweet GH twists available in the US; the up side is that while retaining all the flavor and N of the regular twists, the sweetness and flavoring mitigate the harshness that the brown twists can sometimes have (for me at least).

This twist was easily the driest GH piece of rope I've come across, needing a tad of rehydration. Perhaps because of that, neither the N nor the flavor seemed quite as strong as the Plum, and the casing was a bit tart. Overall, a good smoking experience, but not quite up to the Plum or Rum for me.
