A classic blend in which the Latakia does not stand out mainly against the Virginia and Burley that compose it, giving a fairly balanced flavor but with few nuances. The cut of tobacco is very homogeneous and it is normal to find large pieces inside it.

The humidity of the tobacco when opening the bag is quite little and once opened it dries too fast.

It has a medium strength where it stands out above all the roasted Burley flavor, which finishes from the middle of the smoke to seize the flavors, obscuring the very mild sweetness of Virginia. Latakia is not particularly noticeable throughout the puff.

The biggest problem with this tobacco is its low humidity and it is quite biting, it is definitely not a purchase you would make again.

Pipe Used: Luigi Billard

Age When Smoked: 3 months

Argento is the most popular pipe tobacco series from Argentina and "Latakia" is propably the best one from there. We get a classic english mixture combining golden Virginias, a little pinch of Burley and a generous amount of Latakia. That won't be another rival for Dunhill's Standard Mixture, but Argento Latakia never claimed to compete with him. It's a cheap mixture (only 2-3 $ for a 50 g. pouch!), but only by price. Taste is promising and smell leaves no doubt that we deal with a solid latakia mixture.

If we add to a small % of Cavendish how great Scottish Mixture it could be... nevertheless Argento Latakia itself is worth to smoke.

A very well executed blend from Argentina. Like an Argentinian version of Early Morning Pipe except that the ribbons are not as thin. Virginias and Latakias full of flavor and smokiness. Very decent for the cheap price it has. I like it very much.

Pipe Used: Vauen, Savinelli, Brebbia, Stanwell

Age When Smoked: fresh

Purchased From: Argentinian tobacconist

Boring would be my first word to describe this one.

It's a classic blend that we have smoke a thousand times, so when you go for a new brand tryin to take on this classic mixture you expect something to stand up. In this blend that doesn't happen.

It has a powerfull aroma from the pouch, promising a good smoke. And it achive it, kind of, at leats on the first minutes. But then it becomes a plain smoke, without any complexity at all. Now, that's something you can't forgive to a good english blend.

It's not a bad tobacco. It doesn't bite and burns evenly through the bowl, but you are going to be wishing that it's finished before you even get tho the middle of your pipe.

querida Latakia, amada y odiada.

I agree, probably the best mix of Argento. The virginia bright tobaccos used are of great quality. So is the good amount of latakia in the mix. Unfortunately the bend is a little rough, possibly better after some time of cellaring.
