Gawith Hoggarth - Kendal Gold Aniseed.
Strange, the aroma from the un-lit blend has an aroma that's strong with aniseed (like bad medicine), yet the smoke carries a taste somewhat similar to a blend that's strong with Perique! I thought I'd hate this, but it's actually quite good!
As it's a fairly fine Shag Cut blend, it can burn too warm like many of the finer shags can; that's easily avoidable though: puff it gently!
There isn't lots of nicotine in KGA; actually it's quite mild!
Another reason to go easy with it: if I puff it too vigorously it gives me a bit of a bite.
This is nothing like I thought it was going to be; not brilliant, but worth recommending.
Three stars.
